Hyderabad: Huzurabad BJP MLA Eatala Rajender on Thursday has been placed under house arrest by the police. The BJP on Thursday called for a sit-in in Janagam to protest the attacks on BJP workers.

However, the police made a house arrest in Hyderabad for Eatala Rajender, saying that the silent protest called by the BJP was not allowed.

Eatala was outraged at the attitude of the police. He said that in a democracy, everyone has equal rights. He criticised that police are allowing only TRS to protest.

He said police are playing a spectator role when TRS leaders are carrying out attacks on BJP activists. Police are prosecuting those who were attacked. Is this what democracy means? Do communities, other parties have the power to speak, the power to protest? he questioned.

He said, "Telangana came with the support of BJP. What is happening in this state now? Family rule, harassment of those who spoke out, nepotism, abuse of power, forgetting promises made to the people, suicides of employees, unemployment, non-payment of pensions.

Meanwhile, Goshamahal MLA Rajasingh was also placed under house arrest by the police. He was outraged that the people were not allowing him to consult their party workers.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has called for state-wide protests in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday about the establishment of Telangana.

However, nine BJP workers were injured in clashes between TRS and BJP activists in Janagama. They were visited by BJP state president Bandi Sanjay and senior leader Muralidhar Rao.
