"There is a possibility of some more arrests in (Delhi) liquor scam. BRS MLC and Telangana CM KCR's daughter K Kavitha will also be arrested soon. She gave Rs 150 crores to Aam Aadmi Party during the Punjab and Gujarat elections," Telangana BJP leader G Vivek Venkatswamy as quoted by news agency ANI.
The BJP leader asserted that BRS in lose its stand in Telangana in the upcoming Assembly elections. "The ruling party will lose its existence in Telangana. TRS party had no funds when it was started. Now they have more deposits than all political parties in the country. Where did this money come from? KCR has not fulfilled promises he made during elections," he added.
Earlier this month, the CBI arrested Butchi Babu Gorantla, a Hyderabad-based Chartered Accountant and former aide of Kavtha, for his alleged role in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi excise policy. As reported earlier, the CBI had questioned BRS Leader Kavitha in connection with the case in December last year.
The ED, which filed its first chargesheet on November 25, mentioned that Vijay Nair, one of the accused, received Rs 100 crore kickbacks on behalf of AAP leaders from the "South Group", being controlled by several persons, including KCR's daughter.
Meanwhile, the BRS party on Monday condemned the arrests of AAP leader Sisodia by the CBI. "It is nothing more than diverting people's attention from Adani-Modi nexus," said the BRS party in a tweet.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan among other opposition leaders slammed Union Government and said that arresting the AAP leader is a blatant abuse of power and an attack on democracy. He claimed that BJP misuses the Union Government's agencies to intimidate the Opposition.
