Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay was taken into preventive custody last night while he along with supporters were heading to the poll-bound Munugode constituency. BJP MP was to participate in a protest against TRS in Munugode.
The police stopped Bandi Sanjay on Vijaywada Highway in Abdullapurmet on Wednesday night as he was travelling to Munugodu. Rachakonda police detained him and shifted him shifted to Abdullapurmet Police Station.
BJP alleged that the police are acting at the behest of the ruling TRS to influence the voters in polls where voting is underway today.
Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay was on the way to the protest demanding that TRS leaders and non-residents of Munugodu should be sent out of the Munugodu constituency where the polls are being conducted on Thursday.
BJP candidate for Munugodu assembly seat, K Rajgopal Reddy, protested on Wednesday evening demanding Returning Officer (RO) and Nalgonda Superintendent of Police (SP) to take urgent action against TRS leaders who had travelled to Munugodu from outside to campaign.

The voting for Munugodu Assembly by-elections began on Thursday. Polling will be held from 7 am to 6 pm and counting votes will be conducted on November 6.
For the Munugode by-election, there will be 298 polling places, and 2,41,855 people will vote in the election.
Despite the fact that 47 candidates are running, Raj Gopal Reddy of the BJP, Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy, a former TRS legislator, and Palvai Sravanthi of the Congress are engaged in a tough race.
In addition to Munugodu, there are six additional Assembly districts up for election throughout the states of Maharashtra, Haryana, Bihar, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh.
