The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heatwave conditions in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for the next two days.
Speaking to ANI, Sravani, a scientist of Hyderabad meteorological centre, said southwesterly and northwesterly winds were prevailing in the entire state due to the presence of a trough in south Chhattisgarh.
"These wind patterns are expected to persist for the next 24 hours, particularly in the northern region," she said.
The Met department official further stated that heatwave conditions were expected to prevail in Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam districts of Telangana.
Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Medak, Adilabad, Nirmal, Hanumakonda, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Khammam are also expected see heatwave conditions due to the continuous rise in temperatures.
"The normal temperature at this time, should have been 36-38 degrees. But it is touching 40-41 degrees which is creating discomfort in the entire state. We are expecting similar weather in the next 24 hours," the IMD scientist said.

She further stated that thunderstorms accompanied with gusty winds were expected in the northern and eastern regions of Telangana, while the central part is likely to experience thunderstorms, lightning, and isolated rainfall.
"The same weather is expected to prevail for the next three days, with temperatures showing a decreasing trend. We anticipate temperatures of 38-40 degrees in the next five days. Monsoonal winds are also approaching, and we expect monsoonal weather to begin from June 15 or 16, particularly in the southern parts of Telangana," she stated.
In Hyderabad, temperatures will hover around 38-40 degrees and heatwave conditions are predicted for the next two days. After that, the temperature will decrease, and thundershowers are expected in the evening, she said.
Moderate rainfall is anticipated in the southern parts of certain districts in Andhra Pradesh, with thunderstorms and gusty winds expected to persist for the next 2-3 days.
"Also, thunderstorm activity is expected in the north coastal Andhra Pradesh and parts of Rayalaseema. The thunderstorm and gusty winds will prevail for the next three days. Heatwave conditions will be subsiding tomorrow onwards because already the monsoonal onset will be there in the southern parts of Andhra Pradesh. In the next 2-3 days, it will reach towards Rayalaseema and South coastal Andhra Pradesh,"she further said.
