Telangana: The recent Covid outbreak at Muthangi Gurukul School in Telangana's Sangareddy district led to 43 students including a teacher testing positive for Covid outbreak. The school has a total of 491 students and 27 staff.
Of the total strength in the school, Covid tests were conducted on 261 students and 27 staff members on Sunday. The rest of the students will undergo corona tests, reports ABP Desam.
The samples of the students who tested positive were sent to Hyderabad for genome sequencing to check for the new Covid variant — Omicron. The official said that the infected students were kept in isolation at the school premises hostel and were all stable.

A few days ago a student fell ill and she began to show up Covid-like symptoms. The school administration decided to conduct Covid tests on all students.
Amid growing concerns over Omicron, the state is on high alert as Covid cases are being registered in educational institutions. On Monday, Telangana Education Minister Sabita Indrareddy held a review meeting with education officials in the wake of Covid positive cases in educational institutions and directed the authorities to conduct screening examinations for all students and staff in schools.
Minister Sabita Indrareddy directed the school authorities to ensure that students wear masks and maintain physical distance. Schools staff were instructed to be fully vaccinated.
