Chennai: Six people died after a fire broke out while they were asleep at their house in Mancherial district of Telangana on Friday. Among the six persons, two of them were children.


According to ANI “Six people, including two children, were charred to death after a fire broke out in their house in Mancherial district last night.”

The six deceased persons were identified as Shivaiah (50), his wife Padma (45), Padma's nephew Mounika (23), her two daughters and another relative Shantaiah (52), an employee of Singareni Collieries. 


The fire is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit. 


On Friday night while all six of them were asleep, a fire broke out and soon engulfed them. The neighbours who heard their cries immediately alerted the fire and rescue personnel who rushed to the spot.


The rescue personnel struggled and later doused the fire. However, by the time the fire was doused, the house was completely gutted. 


Meanwhile, the police have registered a case and started the investigation. 


According to IANS, Deputy Commissioner of Police Akhil Mahajan said that a short circuit is suspected to have resulted in the fire.


He said the exact cause will be known after a thorough investigation.


On June 2022, a house got gutted after an electric scooter exploded in Telangana's Siddipet. However, the residents of the house escaped unhurt. 


Yet, the reason for the mishaps of e-bikes is unknown. Earlier, e-bikes caught fire in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Maharashtra.


In 2007, six persons lost their lives in a fire accident in Nizamabad district. The six persons included three women and two children. All the six of them were sleeping in a grass-roof house at Dharmareddypalli under Nagireddypet mandal when the mishap took place.
