Six workers sustained injuries after a reactor at a private laboratory in Bollaram industrial area of Sangareddy district in Telangana exploded on Friday. The injured persons were immediately taken to the hospital and they are currently receiving treatment. The fire tenders were immediately rushed into service to put out the fire. No casualties have been reported.


According to ANI, several people were injured allegedly after a reactor exploded in a private laboratory in the Bollaram industrial area in Sangareddy district. The injured have been admitted to a local hospital for treatment. Police present at the spot.

The fire broke out at a pharma company that is involved in manufacturing a bulk number of drug and pharmaceutical products. 


This is not the first time IDA Bollaram has experienced a reactor blast. In March, five employees of Sreekara Organics were injured after a reactor blast in the factory. Three of the five injured had suffered 90 per cent burn injuries and the remaining two suffered 60 per cent burn injuries. All five were in critical condition. They were identified as Anup, Sai Kamal, Ramesh, Rajesh and Ramachandra Raj.

In December 2020 reactor at Vindhya Organics' unit one at IDA Bollaram in the Sangareddy district exploded, critically injuring seven people. More than five fire engines were pressed into service to extinguish the fire for more than three hours.


Sources claimed that the explosion happened when the reactor's chemicals were being combined. The explosion was heard till about kilometers distant, reported The Hindu. The walls of the factory were damaged and the roof was blown off. The glass in the windows flung out and got scattered in the entire area.
