Raksha Bandhan, a festivity celebrated in many parts of the country, is a day that showcases the bond between brothers and sisters. When brothers and sisters gather together on this auspicious day, various emotions are sparked. Still, a brother-sister duo in Hyderabad has left everyone in the area speechless with their relationship. This brother, Dushyant, has donated his kidney to his sister Sheetal to save her life.
Talking to ANI, Sheetal said, "Every sister should have a brother like this, someone who can do anything for you when it comes to it. It is a very pure relation."
On her journey with the health problem, Sheetal said, "It has been eight years since I had the kidney problem. Initially, it could not be diagnosed. It was detected after a lot of testing."
"I was under treatment for two years in Pune but there was not much improvement. My sister suggested me to come to a hospital here in Banjara Hills. My treatment started there...Doctor advised me to go for dialysis but it was so complicated and I faced health issues," she said.
Sheetal was reportedly under dialysis for 4-5 years with the support of her husband and brother.
On seeing her struggle, however, Sheetal said, "My brother decided that it was too much to see me struggle and decided to donate the organ to me. The tests followed and after all results came out positive, we were given a date for surgery. The surgery was successful. My brother and I are both alright now."
Dushyant Varkar too recalled how his sister initially declined the offer but he kept following until she changed her mind.
Dushyant Varkar said, "All the members of the family sat down together and we discussed how to go about it. The donor would have been either me or my younger sister. My parents are no more. I decided to be the donor."
"It has been three months since the surgery and you can see that we are healthy today...I would like to tell people that donating kidney leads to no issues," he said.
