Chennai: Tension prevailed in Goshamahal area of Hyderbad after a road caved in during the busy hours of Friday. However, no one was injured in the incident.


After the mishap, the police and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation officials were brought in to bring the situation under control. 


Talking to ANI, Goshamahal ACP Satish Kumar said, “We immediately informed the matter GHMC officials. Officials suspect that a waterline passing under the road might be the reason. No injuries were reported and police are on the spot. The exact reason is yet to be ascertained."


On Friday, while the public was busy in the market area suddenly a portion of the road caved in. The vegetable pushkarts that were on the part of the road also went into the ground due to the collapse.

A video of the incident was widely circulated on social media.

A major mishap was averted since vendors occupied the road for Friday's market. On the other days, the road would have been even more busy with vehicular traffic, according to the report on Hindu.

The cars and two-wheelers also plunged due to the impact.


Following the incident, Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi inspected the spot. She also instructed officials to take immediate action to remove the debris. She also told them to ensure the free flow of sewage water. 


The Mayor also said that renovation works will soon be carried on.

Meanwhile, Congress leaders visited the spot and demanded compensation for the damages caused due to the incident. They also alleged that the GHMC corporators were not allocated enough funds for handling emergency situations, as per a report on The News Minute.
