Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually lay the foundation stone for 21 Amrit Bharat railway stations in Telangana on August 6, Union Minister for Tourism G Kishan Reddy said on Thursday. A total of 39 Amrit Bharat railway stations have been identified in Telangana under the scheme which has been recently launched for development of stations on a continuous basis with a long-term approach. The 21 stations for which the PM will be laying the foundation are part of the first phase.


"Railway stations in Telangana to get a major facelift with state-of-the-art amenities. Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi to lay foundation stone for redevelopment of 21 stations across the state. The new stations are being developed with an outlay of Rs 894 crores."  The Union Minister wrote in a tweet.

The Indian Railways is set to modernise 1,275 small yet important railway stations as part of the Amrit Bharat Station scheme.

The Amrit Bharat Station scheme is a central government initiative aimed at enhancing the infrastructure of key railway stations. The primary focus is on establishing multi-modal connectivity and ensuring convenient access for individuals with special needs. The scheme's objective revolves around devising comprehensive master plans for railway stations and executing them in stages. The overarching goal is to improve facilities beyond the basic necessities, striving to establish roof plazas and urban hubs within the station premises.
