The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday conducted searches in districts of Telugu states -- Telangana and Andhra Pradesh -- in connection with the PFI conspiracy case. The searches were conducted in the Nizamabad district of Telangana and in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool, Guntur, Kadapa, and Nellore districts.

It's been over two and half months since the Nizamabad police filed an FIR against Abdul Khader and 26 others for being involved in anti-national activities. NIA on Sunday conducted searches after the re-registration of a case at the NIA police station in Hyderabad on August 26, 2022.

As the raids are being conducted in several districts in both the Telugu states, the NIA has sent several teams to various districts. 23 NIA teams were searching the houses and other suspected places in Nizamabad, 23 teams were deployed in Kurnool and Kadapa districts and two teams are searching properties of the suspects in the Guntur district.

The NIA said that Telangana police during the investigation found that Abdul Khader has built a part of his house after members of PFI gave him Rs 6 lakh. The premise is being used as Karate coaching centre for the PFI activities under the guise of legal awareness. The NIA said that 27 alleged accused in the PFI case wanted to flair up communal violence in the states.

Meanwhile, NIA teams upon reaching Nandyala to conduct searches in PFI activist Yunus Ahmed's house, had to face uphill task to do their work as PFI leaders and workers stated protests and obstructed the officials to investigate.

Another NIA team reached Buchireddypalem in the Nellore district to raid the residence of Iliyas. Though the teams faced stiff challenge from the PFI protesters, they seized several documents and other incriminating materials from Iliyas' house.

Also in other districts when NIA conducted searches on Sunday, the national agency officials had to face protests.
