Telangana's Member of Legislative Council (MLC) K Kavitha thanked the people of Munugode for helping the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) win the bye-election. Kavitha, KCR's daughter, said the TRS's victory reflected the overwhelming public support enjoyed by the party and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
Speaking to the reporters after performing 'puja' at a temple in Nizamabad town on 'Karthika Pournami', she thanked the people of Munugode for extending their wholehearted support to TRS.
TRS won the keenly-fought Munugode Assembly bypoll where its candidate K Prabhakar Reddy trounced Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy by over 10,000 votes.
"People of Munugode have given a great result blessing Chief Minister KCR garu. I thank people of Munugode for supporting TRS and especially the leadership of KCR in a way that silences all voices that spoke rubbish all these days," the ruling party MLC told reporters in Nizamabad.
Kavitha stated that the people have responded appropriately to BJP leaders who have resorted to cheap tactics and uncalled-for allegations about the TRS party. She said that the victory in Munugode completed TRS's hat-trick of bypoll victories in the Nalgonda district.
She said that special pujas should be conducted at the Nilakanteswara Swami temple on the occasion of Kartika Poornami like every year. Kavitha announced that she would arrange for a Rs 50 lakh 'rath' at the Nilakanteswara Swami temple.
On Sunday, Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao thanked all the voters and leaders after the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) won the high-voltage Munugode bypoll.
"I thank the voters of Munugode, all the leaders and workers who worked for the victory of the party. I thank Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist), both the parties which supported TRS in the bypolls," KTR had said.
Slamming the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), the minister said, “BJP lost the elections because of their arrogance. There is no death in politics, only death by suicide and that is what BJP has done.”
After a stiff challenge from BJP, TRS clinched the Munugode seat, winning 96,598 votes.
