New Delhi: Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge on Tuesday responded to Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao's statement on former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He said that Indira Gandhi's name is etched in history and raised questions about KCR's contributions to the state over the past decade.

He further asserted that the Congress party will win with a thumping majority in Telangana.

"KCR can call anybody anything. He can release another 10 ads. But let him answer the people of Telangana what he has done in the last 10 years...I am telling you, fix your headline - Congress party wins a thumping majority in Telangana," Kharge said.

His remarks came after KCR on Sunday said that famine deaths, naxal activities, and encounters marred Indira Gandhi's administration.

Speaking on DBT, Kharge said, "Ashwath Narayan was the IT Minister. Former IT Minister, former Deputy CM should understand how DBT works. If I am giving a number of 1 Lakh Crore women who have got Gruha Lakshmi Scheme, that means it is DBT. If he has a problem with it, he can go and track it himself...The reason why Dr Ashwath Narayan was demoted from Deputy CM to becoming an ordinary minister was because he talks like this, illogically."

Earlier on Sunday, while addressing rallies across the state, KCR said: "Congress promises to bring Indiramma Rajyam in Telangana... What happened during Indiramma Rajyam (Indira's rule)? Hunger and only hunger deaths, Naxalite movements, people were shot dead and encounters... this is what happened throughout Indiramma Rajyam."

“There is no regime worse than that of Indiramma... they have looted and left people in the lurch,” the CM was quoted by PTI in its report.
