A two-year-old girl died after being run over by a car in the parking lot of an apartment building in Hyderabad's Hayathnagar area.  According to police, a woman labourer who was working at a construction site near the apartment building brought her to the parking area in the afternoon to protect her from the scorching heat.


However, the accused, Rama Krishna, accidentally ran over the sleeping girl, named Laxmi, while attempting to park his vehicle.

According to an IANS report, Laxmi's parents, Kavitha and Raju, are construction workers who migrated from Kalburgi district of Karnataka to Hyderabad for a livelihood along with their seven-year-old son and two-year-old daughter.


The incident occurred when Rama Krishna, who had returned home, failed to notice the child while parking his vehicle. The front wheel of the car crushed the head of the child, and she died on the spot.


Krishna is an interior designer, and his wife works as a sub-inspector in the Prohibition and Excise department.


Hayathnagar police registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC and initiated an investigation.


Earlier, a 16-month-old boy died after a door-to-door garbage collection autorickshaw ran over him in the Moula Ali area, the Times of India reported. Mohammed Razaq came out of his house on hearing the autorickshaw's horn. The driver, who failed to notice the boy, started to reverse his vehicle and knocked him down. The child died on the spot, police said.
