A person was booked for allegedly harassing a filmmaker while she was jogging near KBR Park in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. The person was booked after the 32-year-old filmmaker filed a complaint with the Banjara Hills police regarding the incident, which occurred on July 9, IANS reported.
According to police, the man engaged in inappropriate behaviour, made obscene gestures and even pointed his phone's camera towards her.
The filmmaker told police that she noticed that the person was holding the vehicle steering with one hand and with the other, he was doing obscene acts, with his pants down. She said the person appeared in front of her multiple times over the span of an hour.
Upon receiving the complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 354 A (sexual harassment), 354 D (stalking), and 509 (act intended to insult the modesty of a woman). The complainant also provided the registration number of the black Verna car driven by the accused.
Police said they were trying to identify and apprehend the accused.
KBR Park, a popular location for morning walkers, including VIPs, has witnessed similar incidents in the past. In April 2022, a 45-year-old woman was sexually harassed by two men while on a morning walk. Despite her raising an alarm, the accused managed to escape.
Earlier, Tollywood actress Shalu Chaurasia was injured in an attack by an unidentified person near KBR Park in the upscale Banjara Hill. The young actor was assaulted, and her mobile phone was snatched away while she was taking a stroll around 8:30 pm.
According to her complaint, the man initially demanded that she hand over her money and valuables. When she resisted, he punched her in the face and attempted to attack her with a rock. The assailant then grabbed her mobile phone and fled the scene.
Chaurasia suffered injuries to her head and near her eye and was subsequently admitted to a private hospital.
