According to reports, a minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by around four men in Jubilee Hills area in Hyderabad last week while she was returning home from a get-together.

Initially, a case of “outraging modesty” was filed after the victim's family members lodged a complaint in this regard three days back.

According to the FIR, the incident took place last Saturday. The family later told the police that they grew suspicious after noticing minor injuries on the girl's neck.

When asked, the victim said some men had "misbehaved" with her while she was returning home after the party.

Taking note of it, the police later registered a case under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The girl was sent for a medical examination.

The victim spoke of her ordeal after woman officers at Bharosa centre interacted with her.

TRS leader K Kavitha, speaking on the incident, as quoted by news agency ANI, said, “In the sad and shameful incident where a minor was raped, we stand by the family. I am confident Telangana Police will get to the bottom of it. We have a track record of Zero Tolerance when it comes to Women’s safety.”

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), West Zone, Joel Davi, said the initial probe reveals that the girl and accused are juveniles, ANI reported. Most of the accused belong to "politically influential" families, according to reports.
