Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) has received bids from L&T Ltd and NCC Ltd for the Rs 5,688-crore tender to select the Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) contract for the Airport Metro project. HAML had invited global tenders for the project, and a pre-bid meeting took place on June 14 with representatives from 13 national and international organizations. However, only two companies participated in the bidding process held on Thursday.
The preliminary works for the Rs 6,250 crore Airport Metro project have already been completed. The proposed corridor will span 31 km, connecting Raidurg metro station to the Airport terminal station, with an elevated portion of 29.3 km and an underground portion of 1.7 km.
The 9-station metro line will link the IT hub of Hitec City to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad.

NVS Reddy, Managing Director of HAML, confirmed that both companies have submitted a security deposit of Rs 29 crore each in the form of bank guarantees. The bid documents will be reviewed by experts and senior technical officers of HAML to assess various aspects of the project, including eligibility criteria, construction methodology, design basis reports, and more.
The evaluation process, starting with technical evaluation followed by financial evaluation, is expected to take around 10 days. HAML will then submit its recommendations to the government.
Earlier, Reddy said that because of the large-scale development of commercial and residential buildings along the airport metro line and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's vision of providing cost-effective housing on the outskirts and the reverse commute to workplaces in the city by the airport metro line, provision has also been made for the construction of four additional stations in the future.
Last month, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd announced their contributions of 10% each for the Hyderabad Airport Metro Project.
