Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has called on the state government to prioritize the cleaning of the historic Hussain Sagar lake in Hyderabad. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 37th Hyderabad Sailing Week, Soundararajan emphasized the significance of the lake as a natural resource and urged both the government and the public to take collective responsibility in the efforts to clean the lake.

Soundararajan, referring to the lake as the "Mother Lake," highlighted its role in nurturing and supporting sailors who have excelled in national and international competitions. However, she expressed concern about the declining fish population in the lake due to pollution. Soundararajan called on the government to take immediate action to clean Hussain Sagar Lake and maintain its cleanliness for the benefit of all.

The Governor further said that "one of the officers had told her that during his earlier days he used to see fish but now it is not there because of the pollution".
