New Delhi: Volvo has launched its XC40 Recharge in India as its first full EV SUV with a price-tag of Rs 55.90  lakh. The XC40 Recharge is also the first locally assembled EV luxury SUV which gives it an edge over rivals that currently have come via the CBU route.


The official range of the XC40 Recharge is a claimed 418km with a 78kWh battery pack and while via a fast DC charger, you can charge the car from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 28 minutes. The XC40 Recharge comes with two electric motors and in total, they develop 408bhp and 660 Nm of torque.




In terms of performance, it does 0-100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. In terms of features the XC40 Recharge gets a leather-free interior along with the latest ADAS features while having an Android-based infotainment system, wireless charging, one pedal driving thanks to regen and more. The battery has an 8 years warranty plus a 3-year standard car warranty along with getting a digital services warranty for 4 years and a wall box charger.


At this price the XC40 Recharge is much cheaper than rivals and has actually no rival at this point with other EVs being more expensive due to their CBU status. In comparison, the petrol XC40 is priced at Rs 44.50 lakh and that makes the EV version only Rs 10 lakh more.


This can accelerate the EV adoption in India at the luxury space atlseat with these prices having car buyers thinking about switching to EV instead of petrol.
