A heavy police force was deployed at his residence in Hyderabad of Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay's residence in Hyderabad on the day he was planning to visit the family of the farmer who died by suicide in the Kamareddy district. The move comes after a bandh was called in the Kamareddy district by farmers in connection with the municipal master plan issue.

According to ANI, "Telangana | Heavy police force deployed at the residence of BJP state president Bandi Sanjay in Hyderabad today. He was planning to visit the family of the farmer who committed suicide in Kamareddy."

In view of the call for a bandh, the police detained some leaders of Congress and the BJP as a precautionary measure. Heavy police force has been deployed outside residences of both party leaders since this morning.

"The whole situation is peaceful. There are no major protests happening right now. However, we have taken a few leaders into preventive custody in the morning hours. All the shops are open now. A few shops were closed in the morning," said Kamareddy SP, B Srinivas Reddy, as quoted by ANI.

On Wednesday, farmers in Telangana's Kamareddy district launched a protest after a farmer died by suicide. Worried over losing his land for the industrial zone, P. Ramulu, 36, hanged himself.

Farmers of a few villages in Sadashiv Nagar Mandal have been demanding the authorities not go ahead with the masterplan as they would lose cultivable lands and thus be deprived of livelihood.

After an eight-hour-long sit-in on Thursday outside the office of the District Collector in Kamareddy town, the farmers temporarily called off their protest.

Leaders of the farmers' Joint Action Committee (JAC) said they would continue their protest until the authorities withdrew the new master plan. The day-long protest saw high tension and scuffle with the police, resulting in injuries to some farmers and policemen.

The BJP backed the protest by farmers. BJP MLA Raghunandan Reddy sat with the protesting farmers outside the collector's office. He demanded that the government acquire only those lands, that are not fit for cultivation for the industrial zone.
