A prominent figure in Hyderabad, Urdu journalist Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, tragically suffered a cardiac arrest while participating in the funeral procession of revolutionary balladeer Gaddar in Alwal on Monday. At the age of 63, Khan held the esteemed position of Managing Editor at Siasat, a leading Urdu newspaper based in Hyderabad. Khan collapsed while walking in the funeral procession and was promptly transported to a private hospital, where he later succumbed.


Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, known for his active engagement in the Telangana movement and dedicated community service, shared a close association with Gaddar. During the procession, originating from LB Stadium, Khan was seen seated atop the vehicle carrying the mortal remains of the iconic poet.


Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao expressed profound condolences, describing the demise of Zaheeruddin Ali Khan as an irreparable loss to Urdu journalism. Rao recalled their association and Khan's significant role as a news editor during the Telangana movement.






Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, as well as State BJP President G Kishan Reddy, conveyed their sympathies on the passing of Zaheeruddin Ali Khan.






Telangana's Home Minister, Mohammed Mahmood Ali, extended condolences and emphasized Khan's unwavering commitment to the country's progress. Minister Ali also highlighted Khan's substantial contributions, encompassing not only journalism but also the provision of scholarships for Urdu-medium students.
