Elon Musk-owned X, which was formerly recognised as Twitter, is introducing audio and video calling features. Musk had previosuly said that X would become the "everthing app". According to a report by The Verge, upon opening the app, many users working at the publication received a notification that announced the arrival of "Audio and Video Calls".


"We’re releasing a new way of communicating on X, Audio and Video Calling. Audio and Video calling is now available on iOS and will soon be available on Android," the company wrote on its Help Page.

How To Make An Audio Or Video Call On X On iPhones



  • Tap the envelope icon. You’ll be directed to your messages.

  • Tap on an existing DM conversation or start a new conversation.

  • Tap on the phone icon, from there you can:

  • Tap Audio call to start an audio call.

  • Tap Video call to start a video call.

  • The account that you call will receive a notification that you’re calling them and if they don’t pick up they’ll get a notification that they missed a call.

It should be noted that X Premium subscribers will have the privilege of initiating both audio and video calls. All account types, regardless of subscription, are can calls. Users have the ability to manage their incoming calls on X through the Direct Messages (DM) settings. By default, they can receive calls from accounts they follow or those in their address book. To place a call to another user, they must have initiated a Direct Message with you at least once in the past.
