The microblogging platform X, under the ownership of Elon Musk, has been actively experimenting with long-form videos, and recent reports indicate its intention to launch a specialized app tailored for smart TVs. The initial rollout is slated for TVs operating on Fire OS (Amazon) and Tizen OS (Samsung), with plans to extend compatibility to other prevalent platforms such as Google TV OS and Apple tvOS in the near future.

According to insights from Fortune, the forthcoming X app for smart TVs is poised to debut within a week, boasting features and a user interface reminiscent of YouTube. Elon Musk himself has officially confirmed this development in response to a user post on X.

As Elon Musk positions X as an alternative platform to YouTube, the reported features suggest a YouTube-like experience for users on smart TVs. Musk has further emphasized that users can leverage the Apple AirPlay feature to seamlessly stream content from the X platform onto larger screens. The introduction of a dedicated app is expected to enhance the user experience, providing a more intuitive means for consuming content from the platform.
