New Delhi: Meta-owned messaging service WhatsApp has made a few changes over the past few months to the platform, adding new features that it claims will lead to better user experience.

The updates include a feature that will allow users to edit an image on WhatsApp web, which was not possible earlier. Another update spares the trouble of looking for the right sticker as users can now see contextual stickers while typing out a message.

Here are three of the recent updates incorporated by WhatsApp on its platform.

WhatsApp Web Media Editor

Those using WhatsApp web could not earlier edit an image on the platform. While sending an image to a contact, if a user felt the image needed to be cropped or edited, they had to earlier go back to the phone or use an application on the computer to do it. WhatsApp has changed this, adding ‘media editor’ to the web platform. One can now edit images on WhatsApp web like they do on the app on the phone.

Link Previews On Chat Window

Links being shared on the platform now come with full preview, which was not the case earlier. WhatsApp says people receiving a link now get much more context about what is being sent and what they are about to see or read.

Sticker Suggestions As You Type

A user normally has had to go through multiple tabs to find the right sticker at the right time to accurately express themselves during a WhatsApp chat. And there was no guarantee you would immediately get the sticker you were looking for. WhatsApp has now brought a feature to make this process faster and smoother. With contextual stickers, a user will now be prompted suggestions as they type.

The company, however, assured that this doesn’t mean any compromise with privacy. “We built this feature with privacy in mind, so rest assured that WhatsApp can’t see your searches and your personal messages are always protected by end-to-end encryption,” it said in a statement.
