Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta has unveiled new features for WhatsApp Communities, which was introduced last year. Zuckerberg announced on his WhatsApp Channel page that members of WhatsApp Communities can now create events within their groups and respond to admin announcements. He highlighted that the ability to create events within groups would streamline both in-person and online gatherings. Regarding the "reply to admin announcements" feature in Community Announcement Groups, Zuckerberg emphasised that it would facilitate admins in obtaining feedback from members.

“If you're in a WhatsApp Community, you can now create events in your groups and reply to admin announcements. Over the next few months more groups will be able to create events," the Meta CEO posted on his WhatsApp Channel.

"We’re also bringing replies to Announcement Groups, so admins can hear from their members while keeping these groups an easy place to catch up on what’s happening in your Community. Replies are grouped together and minimised so you can see what others have said in context, and notifications are muted for everyone," he added.

Meta-owned WhatsApp further noted that it will keep rolling out new features in the next few months, to Communities and groups so users have more tools to keep their lives organised on WhatsApp.

WhatsApp Communities Gets New Features

WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that enables Community members to reply to admin announcements within the Community Announcement Groups. According to the company, this feature enables admins to gather essential feedback directly from members within the announcement group itself. Replies within the announcement groups will be consolidated and minimised, allowing interested members to view others' responses in the context of a specific announcement. Notifications for replies in this group will be muted for all members.

Within a WhatsApp Community, group members now have the capability to create events. Other members can then respond to these created events to indicate their attendance. Any event created will be displayed on the group's information page. Group members who have RSVP'd and indicated their attendance for the event will receive automated notifications as the event approaches.
