Meta-owned WhatsApp has unveiled a set of new chat filters to enhance the app's convenience for users who use it as an inbox. These filters, such as All, Unread, and Groups, facilitate easy access to different categories of messages. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced the introduction of chat filters on WhatsApp via his WhatsApp Channel and Facebook. In a recent Facebook post, he announced, "We're introducing chat filters on WhatsApp to assist you in swiftly locating crucial messages."'


The company noted that these features are gradually rolling out to both Android and iPhone users, with availability for everyone expected in the coming weeks.

  • **All**: This filter presents the default view of all messages in your inbox.

  • **Unread**: Designed to prioritise unread messages, this filter displays conversations that users haven't yet viewed. It helps users focus on responding to pending messages by highlighting those that are marked as unread or remain unopened.

  • Groups: This filter consolidates all group chats, streamlining the search for preferred ones. Additionally, it showcases subgroups of Communities to facilitate quicker access.


“We anticipate that filters will enhance users' ability to stay organised, locate crucial conversations, and navigate messages more effectively. We're committed to developing additional options to prioritise what matters most to you,” the company stated.
