X (formerly Twitter), Jio, Airtel, Google, and several other online services are down across the country. As per outage tracker Downdetector, several users have taken to the platform to flag issues around a handful of online platforms. From the looks of it, reports started flooding in at around 1:44 pm IST on Tuesday. Give the severity of the outage, and the number of platforms being affected at the same time, it seems that the issue is not restricted to any one particular company's server but could be a nation-wide failure of network.
For now, it appears that the outage is only being reported from India, as other countries such as Pakistan, the US, the UK, Australia, or Brazil are not facing this severe outage.
Which Cities Are Reporting The Most Cases Of Outage?
As mentioned earlier, the current outage is being reported from across India. As per Downdetector's outage map, users from several cities have flagged issues, including the likes of Chandigarh, Delhi, Lucknow, Ranchi, Kolkata, Cuttack, Nagpur, Surat, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Guwahati, and several other cities are facing the outage.
Which Social Media Platforms Are Down In India?
Going by Downdetector, apart from X, the social media platforms such as Snapchat and Telegram seem to be heavily affected. ABP Live could verify that none of these platforms are currently accessible. Meta-owned platforms, such as Instatram, Facebook, or WhatsApp, seem to be unaffected.
Which Gaming Platforms Are Down In India?
Apart from social media sites, several popular gaming platforms are down as well. Garena Free Fire, Clash of Clans, and Roblox, seems to be affected.
Which Telcos Are Down In India?
As per Downdetector, Jio and Airtel services are down across India at the time of writing.
Which OTT Services Are Down In India?
Amazon Prime Video and YouTube are the only streamers which seem to have been affected the most in the current outage.
Why Is This Outage Being Caused?
As of now, there has been no clarification from the Centre on why such a massive outage has cropped up across India.
It could just be an issue of a national server outage and a fix could be put in place soon. However, we still await confirmation from officials.
