iPhone Maker Wistron Is Exiting India Business
Apple iPhone manufacturer and Taiwanese electronics company Wistron will wind down and withdraw business from India after 15 years. The company is going to sell its plant in Kolar, near Bengaluru to Indian conglomerate Tata Group, says a report by ET Telecom.
It is being said that Wistron failed to go deeper into the iPhone maker's supply chain and faced challenges from local employment norms due to which it was forced to leave the country. Tata Group has been in talks with Wistron since last year for the transaction.

Create Stickers Within WhatsApp From Images Soon
Meta-owned WhatsApp is working to bring a new feature that would allow its users to create stickers from images. According to WhatsApp update tracker WABetaInfo, the upcoming feature is now available in the latest WhatsApp beta version 23.10.7.4 for iOS on the Test Flight app.
"What’s new in this update? WhatsApp is working on another feature to create stickers right within the app, and it will be available in a future update!," WABetaInfo wrote on its page. According to WhatsApp for iOS 23.3.77 update, a new feature became available to some users, which is a new sticker maker tool that lets users quickly create stickers from their images.

Twitter Is Restoring Old, Deleted Tweets For No Reason: Report
Twitter is apparently restoring deleted tweets for several of its users, media reports say. According to a report by The Verge, several Twitter users have been reporting that tweets they mass-deleted have been restored to their profiles.
As per The Verge journalist James Vincent, some of the old and deleted tweets date back to 2020. "The re-tweets themselves are completely run-of-the-mill. There’s a video of kids cheering a construction worker. A Sopranos meme about Lindy (remember Lindy?). But the oldest dates back to 2020 — a video from the George Floyd protests that I would have shared while they were happening," Vincent wrote.

Samsung's Default Search Engine Will Be Google Not Bing
Samsung is not going to ditch Google in favour of Microsoft's Bing as its default search engine anytime soon, says a report by The Wall Street Journal, citing sources. The South Korean tech giant has suspended an internal review that looked into replacing Google with Bing on its web-browsing app, which comes pre-installed on the company's smartphones.
Earlier in April, several reports suggested that Samsung was considering switching from Google to Bing as its default search engine on Galaxy phones. Previously, Samsung's decision to switch was reportedly influenced by Microsoft's Bing AI. At the time, the competition for AI dominance was fierce, and the tech giant was determined not to fall behind. Despite the unveiling of Google's Bard AI, it failed to demonstrate any immediate promise due to its lack of refinement.

Meta Slapped With Record €1.2 Billion Fine By EU
Meta — the Mark Zuckerberg-owned parent of Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram — now faces a historic fine of €1.2 billion (roughly Rs 10,753 crore) from the European Union (EU), as reported by Bloomberg. The social media giant has been ordered to cease transferring Facebook user data of EU citizens to the United States. The European Union's courts argue that such data transfers expose EU citizens to privacy breaches, a concern that originated in 2013 following revelations made by whistleblower Edward Snowden regarding US mass surveillance programmes.

Twitter To Get Picture-In-Picture Mode
Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, has revealed upcoming additions to the microblogging platform, including 15-second forward and back seek buttons for video playback and a picture-in-picture mode that allows users to watch videos while scrolling. Musk responded to a user's request for these features on Twitter, confirming that they will be implemented in the following week.
Picture-in-picture (PiP) mode will enable users to continue watching videos in a smaller player while using other applications on their mobile devices. These enhancements will provide a seamless video viewing experience while scrolling through timelines.
