Handset maker OnePlus became the best-selling Android smartphone brand during the Great Indian Festival on e-commerce site Amazon.in, by value, the company announced. The annual online shopping extravaganza, garnered an overwhelming response from consumers, with OnePlus leading the smartphone sales, the company claimed. The newly launched OnePlus Open 5G emerged as the highest-sold foldable phone on Amazon.in on its open sale day in Rs >1 lakh price segment between January 23-27 October 23. The flagship device OnePlus 11R 5G emerged as the best-selling premium Android smartphone in the Rs >30K price segment during the Great Indian Festival, by value.
70 Lakh Mobile Numbers Suspended In India
To combat digital fraud, the government has suspended 70 lakh mobile numbers, in the wake of suspicious transactions, the media has reported. Financial services secretary Vivek Joshi emphasised that banks are directed to enhance their systems and processes to curb the rise in digital payment fraud. Additionally, he mentioned that further meetings addressing financial cyber security concerns are planned, with the next one slated for January. Joshi addressed concerns regarding Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) fraud, highlighting that states have been urged to investigate and safeguard data integrity.
Meta To Support NLSIU-IIT Bombay Research Project
Meta on Tuesday announced support for a National Law School of India University’s (NLSIU) research project that will assess how large language models (LLMs) can be used for building public solutions for enhancing efficiency in India’s consumer grievance redressal system, part of Meta’s ongoing efforts to foster an ecosystem of responsible and open AI innovation to solve real world challenges. The project will be executed along with the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), in collaboration with the Department of Consumer Affairs (DoCA) as the knowledge partner.
iPhone Maker Foxconn Announces Investment Of $1.5 Billion In India
Biggest iPhone contract manufacturer Foxconn, also known as Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., is set to increase its presence in India through an additional investment of $1.6 billion in the country to set up factory, the media has reported. Foxconn made the announcement in a stock exchange filing in Taiwan, but did not provide any further details of the investment. Foxconn, a key Apple supplier, announced that its subsidiary, Foxconn Singapore, acquired 12.83 billion shares of Foxconn Hon Hai Technology India Mega Development for $1.54 billion, says a report by news agency Bloomberg.
AMD’s Largest Global Design Centre Opened In Bengaluru
Semiconductor giant AMD opened its largest global design centre, the AMD Technostar R&D campus, in the southern Indian state of Bengaluru on Tuesday (November 28), as part of a significant expansion of its research and engineering operations in the country. This campus is a key step in AMD's $400 million investment in India over the next five years. This is expected to give a push to the country's ambitions to become a major semiconductor manufacturing hub.
