Homegrown Boat Second Biggest After Apple In Global Wearables Market
Adoption of wearable devices is quickly advancing, with major players like Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, and Huawei vying for the top spot. However, this year, homegrown brand Boat has emerged as a top contender in the global wearable device race. According to the IDC Worldwide Quarterly Wearable Device Tracker Q3 2023 report, Indian brand Boat secured the second position among the largest wearable device manufacturers by volume, as global shipments reached an all-time high of 148.4 million units in the third quarter, growing 2.6 per cent over the year.
Bike-Taxi Aggregetor Rapido Launches Cab Services
Rapido, known for its bike-taxi and auto aggregation services, has ventured into the cab services sector with the introduction of Rapido Cabs. Backed by Swiggy, the startup boasts a fleet of approximately 100,000 cabs already available on its platform, currently serving Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. The company, aiming for nationwide coverage, plans to extend its cab services across the country in the upcoming months, as stated by Rapido's cofounder, Pavan Guntupalli, during the launch event.
Cybercriminals Shared 411,000 Malicious Files Every Day In 2023: Kaspersky
Researchers at cybersecurity firm Kaspersky discovered an average of 411,000 malicious files every day, with an increase of nearly 3 per cent this year, as compared to 2022. They descovered almost 125 million malicious files. Experts observed a marked surge of 53 per cent in attacks involving malicious Microsoft Office and other types of documents. Attackers leaned towards more dangerous tactics, such as utilising backdoors to infiltrate systems. These insights have been detailed in "Kaspersky Security Bulletin: Statistics of the Year Report" and they underscore the evolving landscape of cyber threats. Notably, Windows continued to be the primary target for cyberattacks, accounting for 88 per cent of all malware-filled data detected daily. Malicious families disseminated through various scripts and different document formats ranked among the top three threats, accounting for 10 per cent of all malicious files detected daily.
Apple Asks Older iPhone Models To Be Exempted From India's Mandatory Common Charging Port Law
As the Department of Consumer Affairs is in favour of adoption of a standardised charging port for all electronic devices, including wearables, Apple on Tuesday requested its older iPhone models to be exempted from the mandatory uniform charging port rule, said a report by news agency PTI, citing industry sources. Notably, India's move follows the European Union's (EU) recent approval of law mandating a universal charger by December 2024 to save consumers money and cut waste. Apple introduced its latest iPhone 15 series with USB-C charging, giving in to the EU legislation.
