Social Media Subsidiaries Directed To Ban Ads Of Illegal Betting, Loan Apps
The government has announced that it has instructed social media subsidiaries and online platforms to actively ban and eliminate illegal loan and betting apps in accordance with the current IT Rules. A day earlier, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) issued guidance to all digital intermediaries, urging them to diligently adhere to the existing IT rules, with a specific focus on addressing misinformation and deepfakes. In this advisory, the IT Ministry highlighted the responsibility of intermediaries to prohibit illegal loan and betting apps. "Intermediaries/platforms should take additional measures to not permit any advertisements of illegal loan and betting apps having potential to scam and mislead the users, the consequences of which will be the sole responsibility of the intermediaries/platforms,” the advisory read.
Indians Traveled 64 Million Km In Uber EVs In 2023
In the course of the year, Indians traveled 64 million kilometers in Uber electric vehicles (EVs), contributing to a greener future, as announced by the ride-hailing platform. The total Uber trips for the year reached a record 6.8 billion kilometers, equivalent to navigating the entire 6.37-million-kilometer road network in India over a thousand times or almost thrice daily. The cities with the highest number of Uber trips in 2023, according to the company's statement, were Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, and Kolkata.
OnePlus Officially Reveals 12R Design And 2 New Colours
Handset maker OnePlus on Wednesday officially revealed the first image of the OnePlus 12R, the second model of the OnePlus 12 series. the first OnePlus R Series device to launch in global markets. The device has been shown in Cool Blue and Iron Gray colourways, which is a departure from its predecessor, OnePlus 11R which did not get a blue colour variant. The OnePlus 12R Cool Blue model has a glossy finish with a light, fresh appearance, while Iron Gray has a matte feel to give a sophisticated and strong feeling, as per the handset maker.
