OnePlus India Apologises For Green Line Issue On Displays
Several OnePlus users have been impacted by a "green line issue" on the OLED panels after the company rolled out the OxygenOS 13.1 update. Acknowledging the issue, the smartphone OEM on Thursday said the affected users could get their phone screens replaced for free as many times as they want. The OnePlus models that have been impacted by the green line issue include the OnePlus 8T, OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9R. However, there's a catch and the users who have reported being impacted by the green line issue on the screens will get the replacement only in India.
Big Tech Firms Will Have To Comply With Data Protection Law First
The Digital Personal Data Protection law would be implemented in roughly 10 months, the government has said, news agency PTI reported. Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that the Centre has started work on its implementation. The Digital Personal Data Protection Bill (DPDPB), 2023 was cleared by the Parliament on Wednesday. The bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha by a voice vote amid sloganeering by the Opposition. The DPDPB comes six years after the Supreme Court (SC) declared that the "Right to Privacy" was a fundamental right. The bill would be sent to President Draupadi Murmu for assent. After it is officially notified in the gazette, the bill would become law.
X, Formerly Twitter, To Get Video Calling
X, formerly Twitter, is getting the ability to make video calls, the company CEO Linda Yaccarino has announced, says a report by TechCrunch that quoted a CNBC interview. Much like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and other social networking apps, users on the micro-blogging platform would now be able to make video chat calls as X shifts to become an "everything app". The company CEO was quoted as saying that video calls on the platform would become available without sharing phone numbers on X.
Maya OS To Be Installed By Defence Ministry In All Its Computers
Maya OS is India's own replacement for Microsoft Windows. The homegrown operating system (OS) would be installed by the Defence Ministry which has been developed indigenously and has a special security feature called "Chakravyuh". This development comes in the wake of rising cyber attacks and malware attacks that the Defence Ministry has decided to choose the homegrown OS instead of Windows OS. A key highlight of Maya OS' feature Chakravyuh is said to be based on our ancient defence tactics. Maya OS is based on open-source Ubuntu. The operating system is said to be installed in all the systems and computers of the Defence Ministry by the end of this year.
