New Delhi: Encrypted messaging app Telegram on Wednesday announced the Telegram 8.5 update that adds video stickers, improved reactions, improved call quality and more features, in a bid to enhance user experience. The new Telegram Messenger update includes video stickers, better reactions with compact animations and extra emoji, a button to review unseen reactions and improved navigation between chats.

"Telegram's animated stickers have unmatched quality and efficiency -- needing less than 30 KB of data per sticker. However, creating such stickers requires experience and specialized software such as Adobe Illustrator. Today, we're adding support for stickers converted from regular videos, so that anyone can easily create detailed animated stickers using any video editing program," the company said in a statement.

The new features that Telegram 8.5 update brings are as follows:

Video Sticker: The stickers introduced by Telegram support converting stickers from regular videos. Since creating such stickers requires experience and specialised software, the support from Telegram gives the flexibility to the consumers for creating their own pack or add new sets made by others. Further, developers can use the Sticker Import API to build powerful apps for creating and importing stickers to Telegram.

Navigating Recent Chats: Telegram users can now hold the "Back" button to return to a specific chat. Further, they can easily navigate through chats by opening the chats from forwarded messages, links, usernames, profiles, etc.

Better Reaction and Interactive Emoji: Telegram has made reactions better by giving them the shape of compact animations. The interactive emojis are now synchronised, and the recipients will see the animations in real-time. The update has also added five new reactions can also be accessed via full-screen effect.

Bug Busting and More: The new update also brings improved call quality, added support for translation to "Instant View" pages (and bios on iOS), and the option to send silent messages from the sharing menu. The iOS version also has new animations which can be explored by tapping icons in the tab bar.
