New Delhi: Meta-owned popular photo sharing platform Instagram has suspended rapper and producer Kanye West over racial slurs targeted towards Trevor Noah in a post. The famed rapper has violated Instagram's policies on hate speech, bullying and harassment due to which his account was suspended for a day, several media reports said.
According to a report published in CNET, an Instagram post by the rapper contained racial slurs directed toward Noah, who is a comedian, television host, and political commentator. The post was apparently the impetus for the ban. According to Meta, the post violated Instagram's policies on hate speech, harassment and bullying.
As per a report by showbiz publication Variety, West had directed racial slurs at Noah, who hosts “The Daily Show”, in an Instagram post that has now been taken down.
The social networking giant that owns Instagram has, however, not disclosed the details of the post. The company has mentioned that further action could be taken against West if he continues to offend in the future. The alleged slur reportedly came after Noah discussed an argument between West, West’s former wife Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend, “Saturday Night Live” comic Pete Davidson, said a report published in CNBC.
"You may not feel sorry for Kim because she's rich and famous," Noah was quoted as saying. "But what she's going through is terrifying to watch, and it shines a spotlight on what so many women go through when they choose to leave."
Kim, who previously called herself ‘Kim Kardashian West’ on her social media accounts, recently dropped 'West' from her name.
