Meta-owned Instagram is currently down, according to several users who reported the Instagram outage on Twitter. The information was also confirmed by ABP Live staff. Several users complained of not being able to use Instagram DMs, and the feed not working, among other issues. Instagram has acknowledged the issue in a post on Twitter.
"We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing Instagram. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible. Sorry for any inconvenience, and hang tight! #instagramdown," Instagram Comms tweeted.
According to outage detection site Downdetector.com, Instagram was down for users across the globe around 10 pm IST on September 22, with most users complaining of facing issues with the Instagram app. As per the outage detection site, 87 per cent of problems reported were issues with the app, 9 per cent of the issues were with logging in and 4 per cent issues were with the Instagram website.
The photo and video sharing platform owned by Meta is testing a new feature and that's why the outage happened, a report by 9to5Mac said.
Downdetector also tweeted: "User reports indicate Instagram is having problems since 12:44 PM EDT. http://downdetector.com/status/instagram/ RT if you're also having problems #Instagramdown."
Instagram outage episodes are not new and earlier in May, the popular photo-sharing platform suffered an outage globally. Instagram suffered an outage across India on Wednesday, May 25. Instagram was down in several cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Jaipur, Lucknow and Indore among others, as per outage detection site Downdetector.com.
The Meta-owned platform was not working for many users with several reporting feeds not refreshing and many others reporting not being able to login to the app. Many Instagram users took to Twitter to confirm the outage and also vent their ire.
