Over 8 crore selfies featuring individuals proudly posing with the national flag have flooded the digital galleries of the central government's "Har Ghar Tiranga" website by midday on Tuesday. This surge of patriotic imagery comes as part of the three-day campaign set in motion following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's impassioned call to action this past Sunday. The online platform, jointly developed by experiential technology innovator Tagbin and the Ministry of Culture, has become a canvas for citizens to demonstrate their devotion to the tricolour.
The interactive interface of the "Har Ghar Tiranga" website beckoned visitors with an invitation to contribute their selfies embellished with the flag. The running tally prominently displayed on the homepage proudly boasts an impressive figure: 881,215,910 flag-adorned selfies uploaded by the time the clock struck noon on Tuesday.
This initiative prompts participants to hoist the Indian flag at their residences from August 13 to 15, marking the span of the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign, a jubilant commemoration of the 77th Independence Day.
Within the website's confines, two distinct avenues are available for individuals to partake in the patriotic endeavour: the option to upload a selfie featuring the flag and a digital representation of the tricolour. Upon further exploration, users will encounter a gallery showcasing prominent figures from the nation, encompassing Union ministers, actors, and athletes, each proudly displaying the national emblem. Notable personalities such as Union Home Minister Amit Shah, former cricketer Parthiv Patel, accomplished actor Anupam Kher, and acclaimed singer Kailash Kher are among the dignitaries adorning the platform.
Originating within the ambit of the "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav," a festivity honouring 75 years of India's liberation, Prime Minister Modi officially launched the "Har Ghar Tiranga" initiative on July 22 last year. Once again, the Prime Minister took to social media over the weekend, issuing a renewed call to the populace, encouraging them to emblazon the Tricolour on their profile pictures as a demonstration of their commitment to the "Har Ghar Tiranga" cause.
In his commitment to championing this initiative, Prime Minister Modi himself transformed his social media profile pictures to feature the national flag.
As part of a comprehensive lineup of events planned for the weeklong celebration, Union ministers enthusiastically partook in the "Har Ghar Tiranga" bike rally, a spectacle that unfolded in the Pragati Maidan region of Delhi on Friday. Embarking on its second iteration, the rally was inaugurated by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar and traversed significant thoroughfares including Mathura Road, Bhairon Road, India Gate, and the Pragati Maidan tunnel.
A video disseminated by ANI showcased Kishan Reddy confidently steering a motorcycle while Anurag Thakur rode pillion, clasping the Indian flag in a show of national pride. The rally's procession resonated with fervent chants of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai." Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje, a prominent figure from Karnataka, was also an active participant in the spirited bike rally.
Meanwhile, the nation resounded with celebrations on Independence Day, as Prime Minister Modi majestically unfurled the national flag at the iconic Red Fort on Tuesday morning. In the company of dignitaries, ministers, and the youth of the nation, this ceremonial gesture encapsulated the spirit of freedom and unity.
