In an email discovered by 9to5Google, Google notifies users that the feature will be activated in three days. This feature utilises data from millions of other Android devices to locate missing phones and accessories, akin to the tracking technology employed by rivals Apple as well as Tile.

Earlier in 2023, Google and Apple revealed their collaboration to tackle unwanted tracking facilitated by AirTags and other trackers, developing a specification tailored for this purpose. Subsequently, several months later, Google introduced unwanted tracker alerts to devices running Android 6.0 and later. Additionally, Google postponed the launch of its Find My Device network until Apple integrates comparable safeguards against unwanted tracking in iOS.

After a considerable wait, it appears that we are nearing the finish line. Google has begun sending emails to select Android users, indicating that the highly anticipated Find My Device network will launch within days.

Lately, settings for the Find My Device network began surfacing for beta users of Google Play Services, suggesting an impending release. However, the feature itself did not operate correctly.

Starting Thursday morning, Google initiated an email campaign targeting certain users, notifying them about the impending launch of the Find My Device network, the 9to5Google report noted. The company commenced by delineating the key benefits of the network. "You’ll get a notification on your Android devices when this feature is turned on in 3 days. Until then, you can opt out of the network through Find My Device on the web," the company was quoted as saying in the report.

Notably, in the concluding paragraph of the email, Google specifies that the network will debut "in three days." This places the launch of the Find My Device network on either Sunday, April 7, or more probable, Monday, April 8. This timing falls just shy of a year after the initial announcement.
