Google announced two developer preview Android 15 updates in the past two months and now the tech giant has rolled out the Android 15 Beta 1 update. One can easily download it on an eligible Google Pixel smartphone. Android 15, codenamed “Vanilla Ice Cream”, is likely to be rolled out for everyone later this year, and will be officially unveiled at Google’s I/O annual developer conference event scheduled to take place in May 2024.

Android 15 Beta 1 Update: All Details


As of now, the Android 15 Beta 1 is available for all Pixel devices that are eligible for Android 15. This in simpler words means that any smartphone launched after Pixel 6 is eligible for this. Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, Pixel 8, and Pixel 8 Pro users can download this update from the settings section without much hassle.


The new improvements that the update has brought include built-in support for app archiving, improved Braille support, cellular network security controls, and more.


Apart from the aforementioned, other developments are also being worked on, many of them are focused on new widgets and wallpapers. 


Google has provided new weather widgets for Pixel phones.

For smartphones with a curved display, Google has also introduced edge-to-edge app support.


Google is taking steps with Android 15 to minimise foreground app activities, aiming to reduce remote access to your device. Secure background activity is also implemented to enable tracking of such activities.


It is important to note that the Android 15 Beta update 1 is not a stable update. Hence, it is bound to have some bugs and network issues.
