Among the other significant changes in the new iPhone 14 lineup is the addition of Dynamic Island in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models which is getting a lot of attention. There's a debate on social media on when and how the feature would be "copied" by Android smartphone makers and now, handset maker Xiaomi seems to be the first one to join the Dynamic Island bandwagon among Android handset makers.

Xiaomi China President Lu Weibing wrote on Weibo asked users if they would “really need a Smart Island” and asked users whether they would like to see Xiaomi implement Dynamic Island on its devices. It should be noted that developers of MIUI have already started testing Dynamic Island implementation for music controls and other notifications, the media has reported.

The Xiaomi China President asked users on Weibo and responded to a user’s comment who wrote: “looking forward to the K60 universe, with the blessing of Smart Island”.

What is Dynamic Island?

Earlier this month, Apple unveiled the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max that come with a "notch" bubble that moves around and changes size. Well, this is the "Dynamic Island". The "notch" bubble on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models can "fluidly expand" into different shapes using different animations and transitions, depending on what's happening, says Apple.

Dynamic Island expands to notify you, and present content and controls without distracting from the app you're in.

The price of the iPhone 14 in India starts at Rs 79,900 and the iPhone 14 Plus starts at Rs 89,900. The iPhone 14 Pro starts at Rs 1,29,900 while the iPhone 14 Pro Max's price starts at Rs 1,39,900. The iPhone 14 Pro comes in three colourways: Space Black, Silver, Gold, and Deep Purple. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max come with the new A16 Bionic chip.
