Handset maker Xiaomi on Thursday debuted its HyperOS interface in India. Alongside this unveiling on February 29, the company outlined a comprehensive rollout plan for implementing the new operating system (OS) across existing smartphones and tablets in the country. Additionally, Xiaomi recently revealed a detailed schedule for the global deployment of HyperOS updates in the first half of 2024, confirming compatibility with a range of devices.


Earlier in October last year, Xiaomi unveiled plans to replace its proprietary MIUI OS with new HyperOS and discontinue the older OS skin. The HyperOS UI debuted with the Xiaomi 14 lineup and the company said it intends to expand the HyperOS developer version to several Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco models.


Notably, with the launch of Xiaomi 14 slated to be held in India on March 7, it is will be a phone to come pre-installed with this innovative UI. The Xiaomi 14, alongside its Pro variant, initially debuted with HyperOS during their launch event in October 2023.


Currently, in India, users of Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi Pad 6 can already install a stable HyperOS upgrade. Additionally, owners of Redmi 12 5G, Redmi 12C, Redmi 11 Prime, and Redmi Pad are also eligible for the HyperOS update. Xiaomi has announced that in March, the following devices will receive the update: Xiaomi 12 Pro, Redmi Note 13 Pro+, Redmi Note 13 Pro, Redmi Note 13, Redmi Note 12 Pro+, Redmi Note 12 Pro, and Redmi Note 12.


The latest announcement from the company also atated that globally, the Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13T, Xiaomi 12, and the Xiaomi 12T series are slated to receive the HyperOS update within the first half of 2024, which is, by June. Additionally, Redmi models such as the Redmi Note 13 5G and the Redmi Note 12 5G series are also expected to receive this update.


Xiaomi bid adieu to its prorietary OS MIUI after 13 years, in favour of HyperOS that was launched alongside the Xiaomi 14 lineup. HyperOS will introduce advanced AI capabilities to Xiaomi devices, including features like text generation, image creation from doodles, and text extraction from images. Moreover, users can expect a range of UI customisation options for elements such as the lockscreen, Control Center, and other interface areas.
