New Delhi: Handset maker Xiaomi is set to unveil its Xiaomi 12 lineup on December 28, says a new teaser published by the company on its Weibo account. According to the teaser, the company will host its next flagship announcement event in its home turf China on December 28 at 7:30 PM Beijing time. The company will unveil its next Android skin, MIUI 13 based on Android 12 along with the much anticipated Xiaomi 12 series at the event.

The Xiaomi 12 lineup will run Android 12-based MIUI 13 out of the box. The series is likely to comprise at least three models - the Xiaomi 12 Pro, the Xiaomi 12X, and Xiaomi 12. Tipsters have indicated that a premium Xiaomi 12 Ultra may also be unveiled alongside, but there is no confirmation or details about it.

While not much is known about the Xiaomi 12 lineup, some details of the upcoming smartphones have been revealed, thanks to a few leaks. The Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi 12 are said to be equipped with the top-tier Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip under the hood. A smaller Xiaomi 12X may feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC. Both the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12X will arrive with support for 67W fast charging and the pricier Xiaomi 12 Pro may support 120W fast charging.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro will feature a 6.8-inch Quad HD AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate, Xiaomi 12 will sport a 6.2-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and Xiaomi 12X will have a 6.28-inch AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Previous reports suggest that MIUI 13 will bring lots of changes that will greatly improve the user experience. The update was earlier planned for the release of Mi MIX 4. However, the developers needed more time to improve the software, reports added. Xiaomi's founder Lei Jun noted that the recently announced MIUI 12.5's battery optimisations were contributing to the Redmi Note 11 Pro battery life.
