iPhone 15 Production Issues Resolved Ahead Of September Launch


Famed Apple analyst Ming Chio-Kuo of TF International Securities has said that production issues for the non-pro iPhone 15 and 15 Plus have been resolved, a day after Apple sent media invites for the September 12 "Wonderlust" event. While the pricier iPhone 15 Pro models are said to come with a titanium chassis instead of a stainless steel frame, Kuo mentioned that the display panels, batteries, titanium frame and a new stacked camera sensor for the lower-end iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have all been resolved, according to a report by MacRumors.


Meta Pulls Over 7,500 Chinese Accounts Linked To Influence Campaign


Social networking giant Meta has pulled down more than 7,500 Facebook accounts linked to Chinese influence campaign, in a "biggest single takedown". The company has removed almost 9,000 Facebook and Instagram accounts, groups and pages linked to a Chinese propaganda campaign named "Spamouflage". The sprawling Chinese campaign targeted many regions globally, including Taiwan, the US, the UK, Australia and Japan.

India-Centric Features Coming With iOS 17


Showcased at WWDC 2023, iOS 17 is expected to be rolled out for all after the launch of the iPhone 15 line in September. The new iOS 17 will bring new features and among them will be a few notable India-centric features. One of the key India-centric features of iOS 17 will be the expansion of transliteration keyboards to major Indian languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. These keyboards are useful for bilingual users who move between English and another language while talking to family and friends. The new languages come at the heels of transliteration keyboards for Urdu, Punjabi, and Gujarati introduced in iOS 16.4, Bengali and Marathi introduced in iOS 16 and Hindi. With this, iOS supports transliteration keyboards for the top ten local languages in the country. This will also be available on new iPad OS, macOS and watchOS.

Xiaomi's Quarterly Revenue Falls


Handset maker Xiaomi's quarterly revenue saw a four per cent decline in the second quarter (Q2) of 2023, on the back of a shrinking smartphone market in China. The company's shipments dropped to 67.4 billion yuan (or $9.2 billion) from 70.17 billion yuan in the same quarter last year. Its sales, however, beat analysts' estimates of 65.13 billion, says a report by news agency Reuters. China's smartphone market continued to decline in the second quarter, dropping five per cent to 64.3 million units, says market intelligence firm Canalys.
