At its annual Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung on Wednesday unveiled its next-generation of foldable smartphones: Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4. Both the devices come with upgraded specs and features.

Created in collaboration with our world-class partners, the next foldable devices offer unparalleled mobile experiences that meet the needs of our most dynamic users,” Dr. TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, said in a statement.
“Through our unwavering focus and industry leadership, excitement for the foldables continues to grow. We’ve successfully transformed this category from a radical project to a mainstream device lineup enjoyed by millions worldwide.”
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 has been launched for of $1,000 (or roughly Rs 79,200), and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 has been launched at a price of $1,800 (or roughly Rs 1,42,700). Both the device go on pre-orders starting today and pre-order buyers would get benefits such as free memory spec upgrade and they would get benefits of up to Rs 5,000 after delivery of the devices exclusively in India.
Galaxy Z Flip 4 specs, features and more
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 comes with an upgraded camera experience, a larger battery and better customisation while maintaining its ultra-compact design. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 offers a shape-shifting design, immersive displays with PC-like multitasking features, and an upgraded and advanced camera. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 comes with a compact clamshell design. By partially folding the Z Flip 4, you can activate the FlexCam on the device.
Courtesy of Samsung’s partnership with Meta, FlexCam is optimised for the most social platforms, including Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook. It has an upgraded camera which is equipped with a 65 per cent brighter sensor powered by the top-tier Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Mobile Platform. It has a bigger 3,700mAh battery with super fast charging.
With the slimmer hinge, straightened edges, contrasting hazed back glass and glossy metal frames, its design is the most refined to date.
Galaxy Z Fold 4 specs, features and more
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the first device to ship with Android 12L -- a special version of Android created by Google for large-screen experiences, including foldable. Multitasking on Z Fold 4 has been made easier with the new Taskbar that provides a layout similar to a PC, thus, offering access to favourite and recent apps.
Samsung's collaboration with Google and Microsoft means Google apps, including Chrome and Gmail now support drag-and-drop, thus, allowing users to quickly copy and paste links, photos and more from one app to another. With Google Meet, users can now connect with more people while enjoying virtual co-activities, including co-watching videos on YouTube or playing games together on a video call. Microsoft’s full Office suite and Outlook take advantage of the foldable display, providing more information on the screen and faster ways to interact with the content. The multitasking experience now supports S Pen functionality.
With an upgraded 50MP wide-lens and 30x Space Zoom lens, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 can now take better images and videos. It also has a variety of camera modes, including a Zoom map activated on Capture View Mode, Dual Preview, and Rear Cam Selfie. It also has a larger pixel size, a 23 per cent brighter sensor, and enhanced processing power.
Viewing content would be more immersive on the 7.6-inch main screen with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and a less visible Under Display Camera (UDC) featuring a new scatter-type sub-pixel arrangement. Popular social media apps like Facebook are optimised for the large-screen experience to make content more enjoyable.
With Armor Aluminum frames and hinge cover along with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the cover screen and rear glass, the Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 are Samsung's toughest foldables ever made.
Galaxy Buds 2 Pro specs, price and more
Joining the Galaxy Z series are Galaxy Buds2 Pro -- Samsung’s new top-of-the-line earbuds that provide the most immersive wireless audio experience with a new, compact design, and seamless connectivity. The earbuds offer Hi-Fi 24bit Audio, with high-dynamic range with crystal-clear resolution. With the new Samsung seamless codec(SSC HiFi), quality music is enabled to transfer without a pause, and the new coaxial 2-way speaker makes sounds richer.
The new compact, ergonomic design is 15 per cent smaller, with a secure fit that is made to prevent rotation. Users can take calls on-the-go with powerful ANC.
Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro also unveiled
Samsung also announced the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro that come with a promise of shaping health and wellness habits with intuitive insights, and advanced features. The Galaxy Watch 5 enhances the features that consumers rely on every day, while the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is Samsung’s most durable and feature-packed watch.
The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro has been priced at $449 (or roughly Rs 35,600) for the Bluetooth model and $499 (or roughly Rs 39,600) for the LTE model. The smartwatches would be made available for purchase starting August 26.
