Samsung may soon unveil its proprietary Exynos 1280 chipset for entry-level smartphones and the smartphone major is working towards making Exynos a common chipset in its lineup, according to renowned leakster Ice Universe.

"5nm Exynos 1280,coming soon Strangely, its specification is lower than Exynos 1080 For entry-level models," the leakster tweeted from his handle @UniverseIce on Wednesday.

As suggested, the specs of Exynos 1280 will not be as good as Exynos 1080, and hence, the chipset will likely be used in entry-level smartphones and tabs made by the company. However, there is no further information about the fabrication process, GPU and the number of cores of the upcoming chipset from Samsung. It is likely that Samsung launches the Exynos 1280 with 5G connectivity in the wake of the growing popularity of 5G, according to a report in SamMobile.

Meanwhile, the South Korean tech giant is likely to unveil three models in its flagship Galaxy S22 series in February next. A former Samsung employee has recently leaked the design of the upcoming Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ smartphones. Unlike this year's Galaxy S21 lineup where all three models shared a similar camera island at the rear, the upcoming Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ will not embrace the same drop-like camera design language, as per a report in PhoneArena.

Samsung Galaxy S22 lineup leaked specifications

The Galaxy S22 series may arrive with a new 10MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom as opposed to a high-resolution sensor. The handset maker is reportedly also mulling to take a different approach in terms of the zoom feature - the Galaxy S22 lineup will have a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom capabilities unlike the hybrid zoom feature in the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 models.
