New Delhi: Amid reports of Sony deciding to producing more PlayStation 4 or PS4 gaming consoles, the latest-gen PS5 will be back in stock on January 18 at 12pm in India, the media has reported. According to Sony's online store ShopAtSC, and Amazon India the restock of PS5 have been detailed. Notably, this would be the first sale of the PS5 in India this year and it is also likely to be avilable on Croma, Flipkart, Reliance Digital, Prepaid Gamer Card, and Vijay Sales, suggests reports.

Prospective buyers would be able to place an order on January 18 at 12pm IST and deliveries of the console would begin February 8.

Meanwhile, in a bid to fill in the gap created by the acute shortage of PlayStation 5 or PS5, Sony has decided to produce around a million of the previous-gen PS4 consoles as it also intends to offset some of the pressure on the production of PS5 consoles. This would help fill the vacuum and keep PS enthusiasts within the company's ecosystem.

The Sony PS5 has been facing a supply crunch since its global debut in November 2020. According to a report by news agency Bloomberg, the Japanese tech giant told assembly partners late in 2021 that it would continue making its earlier-generation machine through this year. However, Sony had earlier decided to discontinue the assembly of the PS4 at the end of 2021 but never made the announcement publicly.

“It is one of the best-selling consoles ever and there is always crossover between generations,” the company was quoted as saying by Bloomberg. Sony's ambition with the PlayStation 5 (review) was to make a quick transition to the latest hardware, PlayStation chief Jim Ryan has said.
