New Delhi: Handset maker Oppo is set to host its Inno Day event in the coming week and the company has teased a short video hinting at a new type of camera design, a retractable rear camera, for smartphones. Oppo's “self-developed retractable camera” is seen extending from the phone’s body before retracting back inside. The company is also expected to unveil the Find N, its first foldable device, which is a result of Oppo's four years of intense R&D and six generations of prototypes.


According to the video, the camera mechanism is waterproof as one can see water splashing on the lens, and it would automatically retract the camera if the device is dropped.

According to the markings on the camera module, the sensor is 1/1.56 inches and the lens is 50mm-equivalent with an aperture of f/2.4.


The company's Inno Day 2021 will also see the handset maker showcase its other technologies such as its and its innovations in the field of AI, AR, and 5G will also be showcased.


The handset maker is also likely to launch the Oppo Find N as its first foldable smartphone at 4 PM (local time) at the company’s Inno Day 2021 event. Oppo, in another tweet, had detailed its looks and design language. It also added that OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau will be taking over as the new Chief Product Offer (CPO) at Oppo.
