Mumbai: OnePlus has become the latest handset maker to join the bandwagon of foldable smartphones. The company launched its maiden OnePlus Open foldable smartphone in India on Thursday (October 19) in two colourways. The foldable phone was officially unveiled at a global event in Mumbai. The OnePlus Open has been priced at Rs 1,39,999 for 16GB RAM and 512GB of onboard storage variant. The phone will go on sale on October 27.
The OnePlus Open is thinner than competing foldables but features a bigger screen, hefty battery and capable cameras.
Materials used to build the device include, titanium alloy, carbon fibre, and the phone features aerospace-grade build. The OnePlus Open is also TÜV Rheinland certified for up to 1,000,000 folds.

The 16GB RAM and 512GB storage variant of OnePlus Open has been launched for Rs 1,39,999 in India in two colours but Europe gets the phone in only green variant. Pre-orders of the foldable were opened on Thursday (October 19) and deliveries will start next week. For early buyers, the company has provided a scheme where they can secure the phone with an initial payment of Rs 5,000 on e-commerce platform Amazon.in.
The OnePlus Open goes on open sale starting October 27.
The cover display of OnePlus Open is 6.31-inch with 2K resolution. The Super Fluid AMOLED panel has a refresh rate of 1440Hz. The other panel measures 7.82-inch with 2K resolution and the panel is Flexi-fluid AMOLED, with 89.6 per cent screen-to-body ratio.
OnePlus Open Camera, Other Features
There is a 48MP SONY LYTIA-T808 “Pixel Stacked” primary camera with OIS, coupled with a 64MP periscope telephoto with 6x in-sensor lossless zoom and OIS, and a 48MP ultra-wide angle camera with Auto Focus. There are two selfie cameras: A 20MP sensor on the main display and a 32MP camera on cover screen.
There is a unique spatial audio with multiple “reality” speakers, equipped with Dolby Atmos and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC powers the phone. The phone packs a 4,805 mAh battery with support for 67 watts of proprietary fast charging. According to OnePlus, the user will be able to fold the OnePlus Open 100 times per day for 10 years.
In terms of OS, the phone ships with OxygenOS 13.2. OnePlus says that 95 per cent of mainstream apps are compatible with the extended screen real estate without forcing weird visual adjustments or resizing.
