OnePlus Merges With Oppo: Here's How This Merger Will Work

Chinese smartphone brands OnePlus and Oppo have merged together formally. Both the companies, under BBK Electronics, will share resources and teams. However, OnePlus will continue to operate independently.

China's popular smartphone companies OnePlus and Oppo have merged, after which OnePlus has now become a sub-brand of Oppo. Both these companies come under BBK Electronics. This decision has been made with the aim to leverage maximum resources.

R&D Merged Earlier

Some time back, Oppo and OnePlus merged their research and development teams. Taking it forward, they have now announced the official merger between the companies.

OnePlus co-founders Pete Lau and Carl Pei have previously worked together in Oppo. OnePlus CEO Lau said that they had merged many of their teams with Oppo to streamline the operations and capitalize on additional shared resources, which got them a good response. Now, they have decided to merge the entire organization with Oppo.

OnePlus Will Operate Independently

Even after the merger, OnePlus will continue to operate independently and the brand name will also stay the same. However, both companies will share resources and teams with each other. The companies have been working together for quite some time. It will now happen officially.
