We all know that the competition in the foldable space is heating up and OnePlus is also gearing up to foray into it. Now, OnePlus has given a peak into its first foldable which was hinted at during the OnePlus 11 launch event earlier this year. The handset maker in a tweet posted: "We OPEN when others FOLD" which is a reference to the company's upcoming foldable smartphone. There is no official confirmation on the device's name but it would be purportedly called "OnePlus Open". It is being said that the foldable device could be similar to the Oppo Find N2. It is to be noted that OnePlus and Oppo are both part of Chinese tech behemoth BBK Electronics. OnePlus, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023, had confirmed that its first foldable phone would be launched in the second half of the year.

According to famed tipster Max Jambor, OnePlus Open would feature an aspect ratio with parent company Oppo's latest foldable. The Oppo Find N2 foldable's availability is only limited to China.

"So... OnePlus Open!  Is it any good? yes Can it compete with others? yes Does it look good? yes, if you like big cams Periscope cam? Yesssssssssss (3x)
Form factor? Like OPPO Find N2 Launch? August 29. Colors? Black&Green Price? 🤫 (for now) What else?," Jambor tweeted.

Jambor also replied to a comment that the device would have availability in the US.

Earlier, Ice Universe, another famed tipster had shared information and a picture of the purported OnePlus V Fold on Twitter. He mentioned that the first foldable from OnePlus would be as capable as the Huawei Mate X3. OnLeaks and SmartPrix had shared images of the OnePlus V Fold with a rear that has a centre-aligned camera module that has three camera units and a Hasselblad label.

The foldable smartphone space is seeing stiff competition from handset makers like Oppo and Tecno which have unveiled their Oppo Find N2 Flip and Tecno Phantom V foldable devices. The latter, interestingly, is the first foldable phone to be unveiled under Rs 1 lakh. Samsung also unveiled its fifth-gen foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the galaxy Z Fold 5 today (July 26).

It is pertinent to note that foldable smartphone shipments are expected to reach 16 million units worldwide -- an increase of 73 per cent year on year -- as the form factor is rapidly becoming mainstream. Shipments of foldables are expected to grow to 26 million units this year, according to a report by market intelligence firm Counterpoint Research.
