Domestic handset maker Lava International has appointed Rishi Mohan Bhatnagar as its new president, says his LinkedIn post. Bhatnagar is the former president of Aeris Communications. Bhatnagar, however, took the LinkedIn post down where he wrote about joining the company as a president. His LinkedIn bio still says that he is the president of Lava International Limited.

Bhatnagar was quoted as saying by an ET Telecom report that he would lead research and development (R&D) and innovations and designs during his stint with the handset maker.

Lava International told ABP Live that it has no comment to share at the time of writing this story.

"Welcome to #Lava @rishimb. I am sure with your expertise and vast experience in R&D we will take the brand to the next level. #ProudlyIndian," Sunil Raina, President and Business Head at Lava International Limited, tweeted from his handle @reachraina.

According to Bhatnagar, the company would focus on "Make in India" programme under his leadership. He would also drive a complete ecosystem for electronics manufacturing and take advantage of the government's production linked incentive (PLI) scheme.

It is being said that Lava International is planning to foray into the wearables segment in the country. It makes handsets as of now and it is mulling to start production of headphones, true wireless earbuds (TWS). The company recently refreshed its handset portfolio in the country with the Lava Yuva 2 with a glass back and a refresh rate of 90 Hz.

The Lava Yuva 2 features a 13MP dual rear camera system and a 5MP front camera with screen flash. It has a side fingerprint scanner, anonymous auto call recording and dual microphones for noise cancellation.
